iSAQB® CPSA-A - Soft Skills for Software Architects (Course)

Description

Attending the iSAQB® CPSA-A Soft Skills for Software Architects (SOFT) course gives participants 30 Communicative Competence (CC) points towards the 70 points required for eligibility to take the iSAQB CPSA-A exam with Brightest. It is important to remember that as part of the 70 points required to take the iSAQB CPSA-A exam with Brightest, you will need at least ten competence points in each of the following areas: 

  • Technical Competence (TC)
  • Methodological Competence (MC)
  • Communicative Competence (CC)

 

Accredited iSAQB® SOFT - Soft Skills for Software Architects (CPSA-A) training is based on the current iSAQB® curriculum:

Part 1 - Basics of communication models and types

  • Your assumptions regarding how communication works
  • Situations where communication works and where it fails
  • Your strengths and weaknesses in concrete communication situations
  • Knowing what you want to improve upon

Part 2 - Individual and group discussions

  • Situations in which participants engage in one-on-one or group conversations
  • Different presentation techniques that are suitable for the respective situation

Part 3 - Visualization techniques

  • Dealing with whiteboards, flipcharts, meta plan boards, and cards
  • What exactly is used in practice
  • When is visualization worthwhile

Part 4 - Facilitation techniques

  • Experiences with moderation situations
  • Further reading

Part 5 - Basics of conflict management

  • Most important for the software architecture working context
  • Conflict situations and those involved (e.g., department/development, development/operations, development/support, etc.) 
  • The stages of the conflict, according to GLASL (Glasl’s model of conflict escalation)
  • Responsible conflict resolution methods 
  • Ways of delegation and escalation

Part 6 - Reflection techniques

  • The need to reflect
  • Situations in which the participants themselves received or gave feedback

The CPSA-A Soft Skills for Software Architects seminar is particularly valuable for professionals who want to grow their recipient-oriented communication skills, moderate challenging groups, and improve their conflict resolution skills to communicate with various stakeholders involved in IT projects.

Requirements

To join any iSAQB® CPSA - Advanced Level course, you must hold the iSAQB® Certified Professional for Software Architecture - Foundation Level (CSPA-F) certificate.

Participants should have the following prerequisite knowledge:

  • Theoretical and/or practical knowledge of the communication challenges faced by software architects
