The Foundation Level qualification is aimed at professionals who need to demonstrate practical knowledge of the fundamental concepts of software testing.
Holders of the Foundation Core certificate are eligible to continue on to higher level software testing qualifications, certifying themselves at the Specialist level, and/or the core Advanced levels followed by the Expert level.

Público objetivo
El nivel Foundation es apropiada para cualquier persona que esté involucrada o interesada en pruebas de software. Esto incluye a personas que desempeñan funciones tales como probadores, analistas de pruebas, ingenieros de pruebas, consultores de pruebas, gerentes de pruebas, probadores de aceptación de usuarios y desarrolladores de software. Esta cualificación a nivel básico también es apropiada para cualquier persona que desee tener un conocimiento básico de las pruebas de software, tales como gerentes de proyectos, gerentes de calidad, gerentes de desarrollo de software, analistas de negocios, directores de TI y consultores de gestión.
Requisitos
El criterio de entrada para tomar el examen ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level Software Testing es que los candidatos tengan interés en las pruebas de software. Sin embargo, se recomienda vivamente a los candidatos también:
- Tener al menos un mínimo de experiencia en desarrollo de software o en pruebas de software, como seis meses de experiencia como probador de sistemas o de aceptación de usuarios o como desarrollador de software.
- Tomar un curso que haya sido acreditado según los estándares del ISTQB (por uno de los comités miembros reconocidos por el ISTQB).
El Certificado ISTQB® Foundation es un requisito previo para continuar con muchas de las otras certificaciones ISTQB®.
