ISTQB® (the International Software Testing Qualifications Board) has created the world's most successful standard for the knowledge and skills of software testers. The growing ISTQB® portfolio is divided into 3 tracks: Core (the standard skills that remain relevant in all working environment), Agile (for testers looking to grow or prove their existing knowledge of best practices in Agile environments) and Specialist (for those whose jobs involved in-depth understanding of certain topics).

The International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG) serves to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas for improved software measurement techniques and seeks to provide a composite environment that stimulates the personal and professional development of its members. IFPUG also hosts the International Software Measurement and Analysis (ISMA) Conferences as well as periodic educational workshops and seminars.

IFPUG is a non-profit user-supported group that has gained worldwide recognition as a top-class organization providing very valuable service to the software industry that endorses two types of standard methodology for software sizing. Its members are committed to developing and implementing a highly professional and sound certification program.

The mission of the International Function Point Users Group is to be a recognized leader in promoting and encouraging the effective management of application software development and maintenance activities by providing software sizing standards and other software measurement techniques.

One of the standards is defined in the Function Point Counting Practices Manual (CPM), the recognized industry standard for Function Point Analysis (FPA). It provides a forum for networking and information exchange that promotes and encourages the use of software product and process metrics This standard is ISO Certified.

As companies use Function Point Analysis (FPA) more and more in their contracts, IFPUG, as the body who certifies an individual’s capability, must ensure that the certified individual does indeed have the required expertise. Therefore, ongoing renewal that includes active testing is required to maintain the current high status of the CFPS/CFPP designation and to maintain IFPUG’s reputation as the certifying body. There is great demand in the industry for qualified function point counters. As such, it will be of great benefit to you to be recognized as an IFPUG Certified Function Point Specialist (CFPS) or IFPUG Certified Function Point Practitioner (CFPP).

The other standard are an evolving industry standard defined in the Software Non-functional Assessment Process (SNAP Assessment Practices Manual (APM). IFPUG also has certification related to SNAP – Certified SNAP Practitioner (CSP). The Certified SNAP Practitioner (CSP) designations recognize the initial level of knowledge and skills in the Software Non-functional Assessment Process (SNAP).

The iSAQB (International Software Architecture Qualification Board) is committed to the promotion of vocational education and training. In particular, its goal is to standardize training to become a Certified Professional for Software Architecture (hereinafter referred to as "CPSA"). The basis is the CPSA model developed by the iSAQB, which represents an international standard for the education and training of software architects. The model defines successive training stages, also called levels (CPSA-F – Foundation Level; CPSA-A – Advanced Level; CPSA-E – Expert Level), whereby each level can be characterized and subdivided by curricula. At the end of each individual level, an examination can be taken, which enquires the contents contained in the individual curriculum and the correspondingly assigned learning objectives.

Focus is education and training of the following skills:

• Discuss and reconcile fundamental architectural decisions with stakeholders from requirements, management, development, operations and test
• understand the essential activities of software architecture, and carry out those for small- to medium sized systems
• document and communicate software architectures based upon architectural views, architecture patterns and technical concepts.

• the term software architecture and its meaning
• the tasks and responsibilities of software architects
• the roles of software architects within development projects
• state-of-the-art methods and techniques for developing software architectures.
